Teaching for the Coop

Teacher members are expected to have:

·        Higher level education to degree standard

·        Either a Music degree or at least grade 8 in the instrument they will be teaching.

·        If they offer a second instrument they should offer that at interview also.

·        Sound understanding of teaching individuals and small groups at Primary level, with the patience to create musicians who enjoy music-making even if they don’t progress very fast.

Members are expected to seek advice and training in any aspect in which they are inexperienced. There will always be opportunities to shadow colleagues.

Members acknowledge they have a responsibility for professional development and should take any chance to further their skills.

There will be training opportunities with the Coop and the Hub which members are expected to attend when possible.
